The Maurer Story

oldpictureMaurer Heating is a small family owned and operated local business. We are a direct successor of the Kalamazoo Stove Company, which was founded in 1935 by Mr. John Weersing. John, along with sons Merrill and Nelson, developed one of the area’s leading heating companies, mainly installing and servicing wood and coal furnaces in the mid 40’s. They became an independent Lennox dealer in 1946 and Merrill became the sole owner in 1953.

Leon Maurer began working for Merrill in 1948 as an installer, and his wife joined the company in the early 1960’s as the bookkeeper. In 1972, they bought the business. Their son David joined the company as a sheet metal apprentice and serviceman, later becoming an installer. The company’s name was changed to Maurer Heating & Cooling in 1975. In 1983, David and his wife Dianna purchased the company.

In 1991, David & Dianna’s son Kevin joined the company as a sheet metal apprentice working through various positions as a technician, installer, and now as the vice president.

And now, over 78 years later, as from the beginning, the company continues to be the leading heating and air conditioning company serving the Shiawassee County & surrounding areas. In keeping up with the times, they sell and service the highest quality, highest efficient furnaces, central air conditioners, geothermal & air source heat pumps and accessories on the market today. They also have a full service sheet metal shop for custom duct    fabrication and offer over the counter sales of repair parts & filters.

Maurer Heating & Cooling has achieved and upheld their reputation by taking care of the customers’ needs before, during, and after the sale. And should you ever have a problem, Dave & Kevin are always available to talk to you.
